The excitement for "TwentyTen," as the locals refer to the Cup in South Africa, is at a fever pitch. UConn Honors students are soaking up much more than the sun during their stay in Cape Town. They just got back from a long weekend trip 8 hours southeast of their house in CT to a township and area near Plattenburg/Plattenburg Bay. Along their travels they were able to brush elbows with more South Africans that live a different pace than the hustle and bustle of city life. When introduced as an American student the first question Sarah Schneider always faced was, "Do you know Landon?"
Every team has their star and no star is shining brighter for the Americans than LD. Donovan will hopefully get a strike partner in Dempsey upon his expected return to fitness within the coming weeks. Dempsey is rumored to be touching a ball again at Fulham and should have plenty of time to be fully fit before the Americans take the field in Rustenberg June 12th.
So, Sarah nor any of the UConn students "know" Landon, but D'you know Zlatan?
Do you know Zlatan?
